On 16–17 June, the Police Training Centre in Gniezno hosted a two-day scientific and educational conference titled ‘Interventions Involving Individuals with Mental Disorders and Unconventional Behaviour: Contemporary Challenges’. Among the speakers was Prof. Krzysztof Kusy, Ph.D., Vice Rector for Cooperation and Development, who participated in the Tactics and Training Panel and shared his expert knowledge in the field of physiology. The title of his presentation was “The Physiology of Stress and Physical Exertion in Intervention Situations: Impact on an Officer’s Perception, Coordination, and Precision of Movement”. This is excellent proof of how the research and knowledge developed within our university’s walls find real and extremely important applications in the demanding daily service of law enforcement officers.
The event was interdisciplinary in nature. Experts from medicine, law, local government and uniformed services shared their professional knowledge and many years of experience. Participants in the conference included the Deputy Chief of the National Police, general Rafał Kochańczyk, Ph.D; the Provincial Police Chief in Poznań, Tomasz Olczyk, and other specialists. His Magnificence, the Rector, Prof. Dr. hab. Jacek Zieliński, Ph.D., served as the event’s honorary patron.
